Lorraine Ellison: Lorraine Ellison [Warner Bros., 1974]
Ellison's voice is so gorgeous and her spirit so possessed that it's hard to hear exactly what she's singing--you're riveted as she swoops over Ted Templeman's stark, gospel-drenched production, but nothing attaches itself permanently. Doesn't help that sometimes the swoop becomes a shriek, either.
