As with so much pub-rock, this never quite gets out of the pub. The funk quotient of bands like this one is invaluable, and their U.S. bid does offer several memorable originals ("Another Man" and "Don't Let Your Daddy Know") and worthy remakes ("I Can Tell" and "Riot in Cell Block #9"). But then there's all the OK stuff--side two is a B side indeed, if not C plus. And I can't help wondering whether a debut album that sounds like a stylized J. Geils Band doesn't portend death by secondhand mechanization. B
