Comments

I predict Speakerboxx/The Love Below is the recording of the year. I predict I will never play it all the way through in a single sitting. In fact, if I grade it based on the amount of time devoted to it, I may be overrating it. I only got any sort of grasp on it was by playing it repeatedly and randomly in my car. I predict I rip a SB/TLB greatest hits CD in the near future.

The Rough Trade box gets a special point for introducing me to The Leanover by Life Without Buildings, which (along with the first song on the Sunny Ade CD and Bleeding Fingers by Lucinda Williams and Outfit on the sublime Drive-By Truckers CD) made my year musically. The one great thing about looking at a list like this is having reasonable confidence that I?ll hear at least as much great music as this in 2004. Assuming I don?t get incarcerated, without access to a lawyer, and without being charged of a crime, in the next 12 months.
