The Emotions

  • Flowers [Columbia, 1976] B
  • Rejoice [Columbia, 1977] C+

Consumer Guide Reviews:

Flowers [Columbia, 1976]
Earth, Wind & Fire's girl group--literally. Whether it's Jeanette, Sheila, or Wanda who sounds like Diana Ross at a higher level of consciousness, the effect is exquisite. And their romantic platitudes are no worse than EW&F's universalist ones. Which is pretty bad. B

Rejoice [Columbia, 1977]
They still sing real pretty, and their hit sounds pretty good on the radio, but too many of the songs that fill out this album prove how lazy you can get when you rely on how pretty you sing. C+
