McGuinness Flint [Capitol, 1970]
Benny Gallagher and Graham Lyle's consistently tuneful tributes to America and other romances derive most of their character from the jolly-English quirkishness of the band's folk-rock. Only "International," one of their two attempts at a weightier lyric, is anywhere near as irresistible as "When I'm Dead and Gone," and "Brother Psyche" indicates why they usually play it safe. B
