High on the Blues [Stax, 1971]
Some think McCracklin's faintly plosive moan is distinctive. I think it's a type--ideal for outposts of deep soul, but only serviceable (or a little more) as pure instrument. And you know what? The deep soul drumming of coproducer Al Jackson almost puts it across. B
